Budgeting
Considering the privileged situation explained in my previous post “Photoshoots research & planning”, my budget is not an issue at all. I do not have to rent special photo shooting locations; no need to hire models, as my coworkers are more than happy to support me with my project (not to mention my ubiquitous cats :)); no costs for props and costume, as we will wear our day-to-day uniform; no investment needed in special equipment.
So I am very lucky to state that my assignment will have EUR 0 budget (if we do not consider the cost of the buildersally.com subscription).
Calendar
In terms of timing, there is a lot of challenge. The 2 main projects envisaged are planned for the 1st half of September for the backyard and for the 2nd half of September for the front yard.
The 2nd project will not be able to start before the 1st one is ready, as we lack additional staff. Any delay in these 2 projects would affect directly my media task, as I need to finalize it before October 14th.
Risks Assessment
The risks I can think of are listed below:
- shortage in the raw materials – not really a risk, as we use readily available materials;
- rainy days – big risk (no possibility of control)
- potential technical issue which could emerge during the works (eg. broken pipes, stony land, etc.) and would prolong the duration of the projects – medium risk
In order to mitigate the risks, I will also consider an inhouse project as a back-up, i.e. furbishing the attic and transforming it into a playground for tennis and darts. It’s mainly woodwork, not so complex, but it could still be interesting for the feature article.
