Conventions for Major Task
Documentary

About my project:
I intend to make a Performative Documentary about Fighting Burnout. I will use my Mom’s experience and will also convey to the audience the perspective of a relative living under the same roof with the burnout sufferer.
I would like to preserve a down to earth vibe, hence I will only use phone/ held camera, natural light or outdoor and the rooms’ own lightening when inside (without special light). I will only use the phone recorder, not a lav or a boom. Moreover, I will not use sound effects and will stick to the surrounding sound from the place of shooting, plus voice over of my own recordings and soundtracks which I will select carefully to provide the same emotions I feel when telling my story. I will not use slow motion (I think it’s too cinematic techniques for the purpose of my documentary).
Conventions for Minor Tasks
Minor Task 1 – Magazine Article
- Headings – headlines / sub-headings
- Drop Capital – to show the start of the article
- Kicker – introductory paragraph acting as a link between the headline and the rest of the story.
- Body text in 2-3 Columns
- Composition – grid structures / balance / use of white space
- Page numbering and folios
- Design elements – color scheme / graphics / captions/ typography and layout to engage with specific target audience
- Images – primary and secondary
- Gutter – left blank (not to lose information when bundling) or design Bleed headline or image
- Byline – acknowledging the writer of an article
- Widow – final deck which contains only one word; to be avoided!
Minor Task 2 – Official Social Media Page

Based on the above comparison, I came to the conclusion that an Instagram official page would be the best choice to promote my documentary.
